Greek Attitudes towards Women

 Ancient Greek attitudes towards Women

Women in Ancient Greece had very little to no rights. Women were unable to vote, own land or inherit. A woman's purpose in ancient Greece, was at home and taking care of children. These are the generalised information about women in ancient Greece. However some city states in ancient Greece lacks documentation on the roles of women. Most of our known information on the status and roles of women, came from Athens as they had the clearest documentation. Another popular city state Sparta, also had good information on the roles of women. Spartan women, were known to do more physical training like men. Just like men, they had more rights, for example being able to own land and drink wine. Link

How to work out if a network is transferable?

The seven bridges of Königsberg is a historically notable problem in mathematics. Its negative resolution by Leonhard Euler in 1736 laid the foundations of graph theory and prefigured the idea of topology. (Topology concern with the properties of geometry like continuous deformations, stretching, twisting, crumpling and bending).

But what is the Königsberg problem?

The Königsberg bridge problem was to find the possibility of finding a path over every one of seven bridges that span a river flowing past an island but without crossing the bridges twice.

Seven Bridges of Königsberg - Wikipedia

How to work out if a network is transferable?

Node: a point in a network or diagram at which lines or pathways intersect or branch.

Network: an arrangement of intersecting horizontal and vertical lines.

Solution to the problem?

A network is only transferable when there are 2 odd nodes or no odd nodes.  If all nodes are even then you can start and finish anywhere.

Shapes

 Side Of Shapes:

Tri - 3 sides

Quad - 4 sides

Pent - 5 sides

Hex - 6 sides

All Triangles:

Triangle -- from Wolfram MathWorld

Triangle Facts: The sum of all angles no matter what type of triangle is always 180 degrees. A triangle can always be split into two right triangles no matter how the triangle is constructed.

All triangles:

Equilateral: All sides and angles are equal.

Acute: An acute triangle is a triangle that has angles less than 90 degrees.

Obtuse: An obtuse triangle is a triangle that has angles more than 90 degrees.

Isosceles: An isosceles triangle is a triangle that has two sides that are equal in length.

Right angle: Right angle triangle is a triangle that has a 90 degree right angle.

Quad Shapes:

Quadrilateral - Wikipedia

Quadrilateral Shapes Facts:

Quad means 4, so quadrilateral shapes have 4 sides and 4 angles.

Irregular Quadrilateral: This type of quadrilateral shape is irregular as the names suggests. By that it means that its sides are not equal in length.

Trapezium: This type of quadrilateral shape has at least one pair of sides that is parallel.

Isosceles Trapezium: Like the Isosceles triangle this has two sides of equal length. If you divides this shape by the middle you would get to equal shapes.

Parallelogram:  This quadrilateral shape has opposite sides parallel and the opposite angles equal.

Square: A square is the most basic quadrilateral shape. All of its four sides are equal and four equal as well as the angles.

Rectangle: Four sides and four angles. This shape has 2 parallel sides that are the same length and another two that are also the same length. Like a square except two of it's opposite sides are longer.

Rhombus: Like the square, all of its sides are equal. But this shape looks like a diamond.

Kite: A kite shape is part of the quadrilateral group as it has four sides. This shapes' for sides can be grouped into two pairs of equal length that are adjacent to each other.

Kea Information Report

The Kea is a mountain bird that lives in the South Island of New Zealand. Keas are endangered and are kept in enclosures. They are considered the smartest bird in the world.

Keas are very big and very colourful. They have green wings and orange feathers under its wings. They are 48 cm in length and weigh 870 grams. They are also really strong, with them being able to lift more than their body weight.

Keas are omnivores. Their diet consists of dead animal flesh, leaves, berries, nectar and insects. Keas also like to eat sweet things.

Kea nests are found below the trees. They usually lay 4 eggs and the incubation takes 22 to 24 days. The Kea chicks will stay in the nest for 3 months.

Trip to Willowbank

On the 4th of June, me and my class went to Willowbank. The trip was for us to learn about the Keas and to see other wildlife. We left school at around 9:50, and headed our way to Willowbank by bus. When we first got there, we were given our paper that we can answer as we go around the reserve. One member from our group were also given food for the animals, so we could feed them. We were assemble into three groups. My group started off at the river were we saw a lot of ducks. Then we went around to try answer the questions from the paper. As we were answering the questions, we were also feeding the animals that were allowed to be fed with the food we were given. After that, we assembled together as one big group so we could go inside the Kea enclosure. In the Kea enclosure, we saw a lot of Kea, as well as other animals. It was really cold, but I found it really interesting seeing them for the first time in person. The keeper talked about a lot of fascinating facts about them. We then went to another room so the keeper could answer the questions that we prepared prior to the trip. Then after all of that we got to eat our delicious food. We were also given the chance to go around the reserve and have a look at the different animals that are kept in the reserve. It was a really fun and amazing day that I will never forget.

Imagery

Imagery: Is to use figurative language to represent objects, actions, and ideas in such a way that it appeals to our physical senses. It is used to make the text more interesting and paints an image inside their head.

Examples:
It was dark and dim in the forest.
The children were screaming and shouting in the fields.

My examples:
The prisoners were screaming and shouting inside their jail cells.

Antithesis

Antithesis: The term used to refer to an author's use of two contrasting or opposite terms in a sentence for effect. The two terms are set near each other to enhance or highlight the contrast in opposite meaning.

Antitheses are used to strengthen an argument by using either exact opposites or simply contrasting ideas, but can also include both. They typically make a sentence more memorable for the reader or listener through balance and emphasis of the words.

When he became the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong said that it was a "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness." Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

My Example:
"It was the best experience, but the worst experience."
"He was the best player in the team but also the worst player in the team."
