Passion Project

My passion project is sports recreation.
My group is doing 3 on 3 basketball for year 7 and 8. So far we have done the planning and now we just need an approval to use the gym for our tournament. For our next step, once we get the gym we will start the tournament. We have already our planning and getting the gym is the only thing that we need so we can start it.

Growing NZ Innovation Project

Introduction
At the start of term 3 we did the growing NZ innovation project. Our class had to choose 2 different people that we can make a group with. There were different topics on this innovation project. The one we chose was the Irrigation Efficiency. Irrigation is used to assist the growth of crops, usually at times when there is insufficient rainfall to optimise production. Water is moved through pipes, canals, sprinkles and other man-made things. So our task was to come up with a solution that will make it more efficient.

Our solution was to create a pipe. The pipe was going to be opened by remote. This pipe basically distributes the water from underneath. It is better to spread the water under so it won't evaporate therefore we can save water.

Digital Learning Objective

Reflection
I enjoyed our topic and I liked what we came up with. I think we chose the perfect topic and the enablers. We also got everything done it was very organised. I enjoyed working with my group. Our presentation was quick and got straight to the point. I think my group did the best out of all the other group. I don't think we could have done any better because it was perfect.

Questions
Did you like my group's prototype?
What do you think we could have done better?
What should we have made as our solution?
Do celebrities make good role models?
I think yes and no. This is because there are always a good side and bad side for anything.
But here is why I think they are good role models.

Some celebrities are really good role models.
They inspire a lot of people from different ages and motivate them through movies or their work outside.
Celebrities like Dwayne Johnson are really big role models for many different reasons.
He is a big athletic guy with a bright personality and a sense of humour.
He inspires anyone from all ages to workout and get fit.
There are also celebrity singers like Bruno Mars who inspire a lot of people to sing.
There are a lot of other celebrities like Dwayne Johnson and Bruno Mars who also inspire a lot of people.
This is why I think they are good role models. But as I said there are always a down side to everything.
And here’s why I think some celebrities aren’t so good role models.

Some celebrities aren’t very good role models.
Some of them are dishonest and aren’t very nice people.
Some of them are not nice to their fans.
Some of them have also done drugs etc.
Some celebrities have also committed suicide and this might ruin this reputation.
Sure they had a reason why, but it’s still isn’t a good look.
These are the reasons why I think some celebrities aren’t good role models.

So in conclusion I think it just depends.
We are all humans and some celebrities are different to one another.
But in the end, it just depends on their personalities and how they carry out themselves.
Which is what makes them a good role model.

People under 18 are too irresponsible to be allowed to drive.

I think that not all people are under 18 are too irresponsible to be allowed to drive.
But some of them are too irresponsible to drive. Here’s why.

Some people under 18 are very careful and do follow the rules.
This is because they really want to drive for many different reasons like to go to school easier and to drop off their siblings to school.
Maybe some of them have a big interest in driving because maybe in the future they want a job where they can teach people to drive or supervises them.
So if they knew or started driving at an earlier age they will have advantages to get this job.

But some people who are under 18 are also very hard to discipline.
This is probably because they want to show off to their friends.
Like if they drive fast they’re to look cool.
This is very dangerous because they could into a car accident.
They could also get a speeding ticket. Some of them also go to parties and they get drunk.
So if they drive this will risk them of crashing onto another car.

So in conclusion I think it just depends on the person on whether they are responsible or not.
To be fair it’s not just people who are under 18 who are irresponsible.
But people from all ages.
So everyone should be careful and be responsible if they want to drive!

Should every students learn a new language?

Should every students learn a new language? Is having a second language important?
Well it depends. There are many advantages of having a second language.
But learning another language isn’t really necessary. So I think yes and no. Here’s why.

Learning a second language gives the student more knowledge and makes them smarter.
Speaking another language can also help them in the future.
This is because, they could get a job offer from another country.
Going on vacation on another country would be easier especially if you know how to speak their language.
Students can also communicate with new students if they were learning the language that the new student speaks.
These are the advantages of learning another language. But as I said it is also not necessary and here’s why.

If you aren’t learning another language you could be doing things that are probably more important.
You also don’t know if it will be useful in the future. It takes a long time to be able to speak the language you’re learning properly.
While if you didn't learn you could have done more things that will actually matter more once you get older.
This why I think it isn’t really important.

So in conclusion I think it just depends on the student.
It can be helpful but I think it isn’t necessary and students could just learn other things that are probably more important.

Hauora

Today I learnt about the four dimensions of Hauora.
My physical well being is in good condition and I am feeling active.
The things that I do well to look after my taha tinana are: Taking a shower, brushing my teeth and getting the right amount of sleep.
The things that I could do better for my physical well being are: Eat more fruits, vegetables and exercise more.
The dimension is one of the 4 dimensions that I don't need to work on: Physical.

"Modal verb practice - Term 3 plan"

"Modal verb practice - Term 3 plan"
I have to work very hard to get all my work done.
I also need to get use to the new building and learn my ways around it.
I should definitely study harder so I can do good in every subject.
I could probably do more of my work at home so I can get it all done.
I might actually start doing more work and always finish them.

Game Development Post 2

LOL Summoners Guide
Introduction
For the past few weeks in DTE, my group have been trying to finish our Game/App. My group was going to make a Geometry dash type of game, but we decided to scrap that because it was too complicated for us. So instead, we decided to make an App about League Of Legends champs. The App gave you information about the champs, like what skills you need to level up first, what items you should buy and the where to go if you are using him/her. It teaches you the basics and how you should play them.

Digital Learning Object
You can find the App here: LOL APP

Reflection
I have learnt many things about game developing. I learnt how to use App Lab properly like designing the background and basic coding. As we were doing the App I also learnt a lot about League of Legends. This is because I was gathering the information about the champs and putting them into a Document.

In my group not everyone contributed. One of us was away most of the time and I just did the screen shot the League Champions. I also put the champs information. But other than that it was really just one who did the designing of the App and coding it. I think my group was alright despite us not contributing equally. I would have liked it if we change the Game/App we were making but other than that I think the work and the idea that was produced was very good.

We didn't finish the app because we didn't have enough time. This is because not everyone contributed and that the app would have taken much more time to be completed. We planned to do all the champions which is why we needed more time. I think my group should have limited the amount of champions we were going to do because there are too many of them. We should have limited it to the most used champions instead of doing them all. I took away a lot from this experience. I realised that planning and teamwork is very important for Game/App developing. Also you must know your skills and what you can make.

Shakespeare's Works

We are learning about Shakespeare's works. Shakespeare has made over 37 plays in his lifetime. His longest play was Hamnet and his most popular Romeo and Juliet. This will tell us more about his works and what he was up to. My questions are how much money did Shakespeare gain from these plays and how much money did his actors get.

Elizabethan Theatre

We are learning about Elizabethan Theatre. This is a continuation to the other parts. This tells us more about the different types of entertainment they had back in Shakespeare's time. My questions are, how long did it take to make the Globe Theatre and how much did it cost to make.

Elizabeth England

We are learning about Elizabeth England. This is a continuation to the first part of the "Life and Times Of Shakespeare." This tells us more about what it was like to live back then. My questions are, how does a person back in his day compare to someone who lives in this era and how good was it living back then.

Life and Times Of Shakespeare

We are learning about the life and times of William Shakespeare and how it life was back in his time. We are learning about Shakespeare because after this we will study "The Merchant Of Venice" which is one of his plays. My question are, why is he so remembered if though he only made plays. How would his net worth compare to someone in the modern age and how did die.

Amun-Ra Poster

This poster is about an Egyptian God named Amun-Ra. I found Amun-Ra interesting because he said to be the strongest out of all the Egyptian Gods. But Amun-Ra is a combination of Amun and Ra. Amun being the king of the gods and Ra being the sun god. Ra was said to have created all living things. And when they merged both of them became even more powerful than before.

Halt All Racist Tours (HART)

What are we learning?
We are learning about HART (Halt All Racist Tours)

Why are we learning it?
We are learning it because it is the main reason why Apartheid fell apart. It is also a conclusion to the the film we watched about Apartheid South Africa.

How did we learn it?
We watched "The power of One" and had Mr. Minto who came and talked to us about it.

Are we addicted to our phones?

I think that not all students are addicted to their phones. Some students go on their phones they get easily distracted and they end up not doing their work. However there are also some students who go on their phones for school purposes. I feel that not all students are not addicted to their phones and that this isn't a problem because some student actually use it to get information or to learn something new.

Reflection means to think reflect or think about the past.

What I did well: I got all my work done properly. I listened to the teacher and stayed quite when the teacher was talking.

What could have I done better: I think I should have expanded more and not just stick to the minimum. Also be more creative on my work and not just keep it simple.

What will I do next: I will be more creative with my work and expand more to it. My goal for this term is to be more expand more on my work and do good on every subject. Also study more especially for up coming tests.

How Has Technology Changed The Way We Do Things

Technology has changed many jobs, tasks and everyday activities we do. This is because the technology has advanced  and allowed us to do things much easier than before. For example, technology has now changed the way we communicate with others around the world. Back then we used post cards and it would take too long for the other person to read what message you sent them. But now we can easily communicate with other people around the world using our phones. Another example is how we used to walk or ride horses to get to places. But with the advancement of technology we have fast cars which we drive to get to different places. Not only that, the cars now can drive itself and don't need any fuel to work. Another example is how we get our information. Back then we use to go to library to read books and find out what we want to find out. But now we can search it up on google using our phones and it will come up with the answers we needed to know. These are just a few examples on how technology has improved things in our everyday lives.

Here are 20 examples on how technology changed the way we do things.

App Development Post 1

INTRODUCTION
Hi I'm Danne and in DTE we have started our progress into making our video game. Each groups have three memebrs. We are allowed to make any game we want as long as it's not inappropriate. My team decided to make a geometry dash type of game. We had to research games like geometry dash and we took ideas from those games. We put our ideas on padlet and coggle.
Digital Learning Objective

REFLECTION
I found padlet and coggle very helpful. Padlet was very simple and easy to use. Coggle on the other confused me at first, but as I used it more I got use to it and learnt how to use it properly. It became simple and easy to use. I also think my team did well on this project. We talked a lot and listed a lot of our ideas. Even when we first started we already had a lot of ideas and right away we knew what game we were going to make. Overall I think my group did well and we had pretty good success on planning our game. I think we will succeed on making this game.

The Atlantic Slave Trade Triangle Paragraphs

The Atlantic Slave Trade Triangle was a cruel and disgusting trading system that started in the
15th century. This trading system was an evil trading system because it involved Africans being taken
away from their homes and being sold into slavery. The Europeans would bring guns and other weapons
and trade them to African Kings in exchange for slaves. The slaves involved men, women and even
children. This part of the Atlantic Slave Trade Triangle was called the first passage.
They were taken from their homes and country and put on slave ships like animals.

In the next passage they were forcefully put into ships. In the ships they were treated badly because
they were now in control of the traders and they did not have show them any human rights.
They would get whipped for trying to fight back and a lot of slaves died. Some slaves would starve and
some would get thrown out into the ocean. The ships would travel across the Atlantic to reach their
destination. This passage is called the middle passage. Once they arrived in America, a life
of punishment awaited them.

Once they arrive, they were auctioned as slaves. People would buy the slaves for different purposes
because the slaves were no longer free but property of the person who bought them.
Some would buy them to make them work on picking up cottons on the field.
Some would buy them to make them work in their kitchen and some would buy them for sexual purposes.
Life as a slave was very hard. They would work for hours and hours on the field.
They wouldn’t get paid and were even punished if they didn’t do enough. The slaves would also sing their
own made up song while working. The songs helped them work because it expressed how they’re feeling.
Some slaves tried to escape and if they are caught they would get killed. Then all of their stuff they
harvested like tobacco and cotton would get transported to Europe.
This passage is called the third passage. This would complete the Atlantic Slave Trade Triangle.

What is your writing about?
My writing is about the Atlantic Slave Trade.

What did you most the most interesting about this topic?
I didn't really find anything interesting.

Out of 10 how much did you like or dislike the topic?
I would rate it a 5 because It's not really the stuff I'm interested on but I also don't dislike it because I got to know about how the slaves thing started.

Interland Analysis

INTERLAND BY GOOGLE

Introduction
Last week in DTE, we had started looking at a game called Interland. Interland is a game that was designed by Google. The game basically teaches you about how to be safe online. It has four levels, and each one of them gives you different tips on how to be safe online. We have played and have done our research about the design and what the objective is.

Digital learning Objective
You can find HERE!
Image result for interland
Reflection
There were four levels and we had to play all of them. Each level teaches us different tips on how to be safe online. Kind Kingdom teaches us how to spread kindness to people. It also teaches us not be a bystander and to help people that are getting bullied. Mindful Mountain tells us which people we should share our own things and you have to avoid the pedophiles. Reality River gives us questions about a scenario and you have to pick the best answer possible. Tower of Treasure teaches us how to make a strong secure password and if you make a mistake you get basically get hacked. Some games are side scroll and some games are not. For me Kind Kingdom was the better level than the rest because it was easiest and it wasn't laggy. But overall the levels weren't that good and could have been made better especially the graphics.

Question
What do you think of the game?
Do you think that Google has put their best effort into working towards this game?
